Product Overview
Soft Touch Paper is a premium specialty packaging substrate with silky velvet matte tactile finish. We provide two production variants: Soft Touch Varnish Coated Paper (Soft Touch Oil Coating) and Soft Touch Film Laminated Paper. Supplied in industrial jumbo rolls and custom flat sheet sizes, widely used for rigid box surface lamination, cosmetic packaging, wine boxes, jewelry boxes, electronic gift sets, premium paper bags and luxury hang tags.
Two types definition:
1. Soft Touch Varnish Coated Paper (Soft Touch Oil Coating)
Water-based PU soft touch varnish is directly coated and cured onto paper/cardboard surface. No plastic film lamination, pure paper base with thin functional coating.2. Soft Touch Film Laminated Paper
BOPP soft touch film is bonded to base paper via adhesive, forming a composite structure of paper + plastic film.Available grammage:
120g – 350g.Base options:
woodfree paper or cardboard. Stock solid colors available; custom Pantone color matching for bulk orders.Compatible finishing:
hot stamping, embossing, debossing, spot UV and water-based varnish.Available sizes:

• Consistent surface texture, less prone to surface marks, suitable for long shelf display luxury packaging
• Composite structure with BOPP film and adhesive, limited recyclability under EU packaging regulations
• Higher cost; special hot stamping foil and adjusted machine parameters are required

Soft Touch Varnish Coated Paper
Uniform coating across full sheet. Flexible coating minimizes cracking on crease lines. Hot stamping and spot UV deliver sharp, clean contrast effect.
Soft Touch Film Laminated Paper
Stable heavy velvet hand feel. BOPP film provides strong surface protection. Pre-production stamping test is mandatory to avoid poor foil adhesion.
Batch Consistency
Hand feel, matte degree and color are strictly inspected against approved physical samples for both types.

Eco-Friendly & Sustainable Solution
Soft Touch Varnish Coated Paper: Virgin pulp base optional, low-VOC water-based coating, heavy metal free, plastic-free, recyclable, meets EU REACH, RoHS and PPWR requirements
Soft Touch Film Laminated Paper: Mixed composite of paper + BOPP film + adhesive. Hard to separate during recycling. Material composition declaration required for EU PPWR compliance review
Both types are non-toxic and odorless
Production scraps of varnish coated version can be recycled normally

FAQ & Quality Solutions
Uneven soft touch hand feel
Varnish coated: Precision roll coating with controlled coating weight plus full-width online inspection.
Film laminated: Tension control during film lamination to guarantee uniform tactile effect.
Cracking on folding creases
Varnish coated: Flexible water-based coating formula. Pre-production folding test to verify crease resistance.
Film laminated: Risk of BOPP film cracking at deep scores. Optimize scoring and die-cut parameters.
Fingerprint marks on surface
Anti-fingerprint additives added in both versions. Film laminated type has better fingerprint resistance.
Poor hot stamping foil adhesion
Varnish coated: Surface corona treatment can be applied to improve adhesion.
Film laminated: Special foil grade and adjusted temperature/pressure are mandatory. Pre-production sample test required.
Warping after mounting on grey board
Base paper undergoes moisture stabilization treatment. Store finished sheets under constant humidity to reduce warping risk.
Surface scratches during converting
Varnish coated: Optimized anti-scratch coating formula.
Film laminated: Inherent high scratch resistance from BOPP film layer.

Shipping & Logistics Recommendations
Jumbo soft touch paper rolls packed with thick paper tube, edge guards and waterproof film to prevent surface friction damage. Flat sheets packed with hardboard interlayer + moisture-proof wrapping to avoid compression and abrasion. Store in dry, constant humidity warehouse. Avoid high temperature and strong sunlight, which may cause coating aging or film delamination. Minimize surface friction during handling. Stack height ≤1.0m. Bulk export orders support pallet packaging for long sea freight transportation. Material declaration available for EU PPWR. 24-hour after-sales support for transit damage and quality issues.
